Each ministry on this page describes our ministries that you may become actively involved with by using the sign up form and noting the ministries in which you are willing to commit yourself.  Everyone is encouraged to become active in at least one area of Liturgical Ministry and one area of all the others. Please note “PIC” means Person In Charge.

 

I. Prayer/Worship/Spiritual Life Commission

 

  • Assembly: The most important ministry, as each of us ministers to each other. We do this through our prayers, singing, hospitality, & communicating. By virtue of your Baptism, you are automatically enrolled in this ministry. How about becoming a more active member through your participation in all the parts of the Liturgy that belong to you?  PIC-- YOU

 

  • Lectors: People who have a desire and ability to proclaim the Word of God each week.  A good clear speaking voice as well as an understanding of the Scriptures is important.  PIC – Cathy Dancer

 

  • Eucharistic Ministers: People who have a deep love of the Eucharist and are specially commissioned to distribute Communion at the weekend liturgies.  Minimum age is 16 years old.  For training dates call PIC-Barb Gorsha

 

  • Acolytes:  Adults and students in Grade 4 through High School serve in this ministry at present.  Their principal function is to assist the priest during the liturgy, as well as lead the processions.  For acolyte training dates contact PIC-Mike Hallett

 

  • Ministers of Hospitality: These include the Greeters who help us feel welcome as we first enter the church, making sure that we also have what we need to better participate in our liturgies and help take up the collection during the liturgy. Hospitality Minister training takes place after the 5:00pm Mass and in-between the 8:00am and 10:30am Masses. For training dates contact  PIC-Andy Keil

  • Cantors: These specially trained singers help lead the sung prayer during Mass.  Their primary role is to proclaim the Responsorial Psalm of the Liturgy, as well as the Gospel Acclamation, the Communion Song verses, any other Litanies there may be, and be a support to the singing.   • Mixed Choir: A Choral group who generally sings at the 10:30 Sunday Liturgy and aids the Assembly in two ways: help to lead and enhance the Assembly's singing; provide meditative music at certain times in the Liturgy.  Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings at 7:30-9:00 pm throughout the year.   • Funeral Choir:  The choir consists of both men and women who are available during the day, mostly in the morning, and offers song support to the families and friends during the funerals here.  Rehearsals are usually an hour before the funerals when possible.  PIC – Karole Sigg

 

  • Junior Choir: Students in 4th - 8th grade, who like to sing will do so once a month at weekend liturgies, and other community functions. SRS Practice is every Thursday from 2:00-2:45 pm and School of Religion practice is Thursday 4:00-4:45 pm PIC – Sr. Valerie

 

  • Bell Choir: Students in grades 5-8 who are interested in this choir will play for certain weekend and weekday liturgies and at Christmas and other special occasions throughout the year. Rehearsals will take place on Thursdays from 4:00-4:55 pm. If interested contact  PIC – Sr. Valerie

 

  • Instrumentalists: Instrumentalists of any kind (Flute, Trumpet, Strings, etc.) any age (beginners through experienced adults) are always welcome to enhance the music of our liturgies. Please list what instrument you can play and for how long you have been playing it. PIC – Sr. Valerie

  • Liturgy Committee: People who oversee all the areas of our weekend liturgies, we offer training and support for the different ministries, and make sure that the liturgies are the best they can be for all who attend them. PICs – Tim and Pat Worline

 

  • Art & Environment: Looking after the total environment of the church as it pertains to the Liturgy.  Directives flow from the work of the Liturgy Committee. If wanting to get involved contact  PIC–Tonya Dominique

 

  • Sacristan Helpers: Helps the Sacristan in maintaining all the Liturgical supplies needed to celebrate each liturgy.   PIC – Dawn McCaw

 

  • Mass Coordinator: Ensures that everything needed is ready for each liturgical celebration.  PIC – Gloria Lanum

 

  • Gift Bearers: People to bring the gifts of bread, wine and money to the altar at the Offertory of each Mass.  PIC -- Sally Callicotte

 

 

  • Church Laundry: Ability to clean the garments or linens in your home to keep them looking fresh. PIC Sharon Wesley

 

  • Church Cleaning: Help cleaning the interior of the church. This is done on the second Saturday of the month from 9-1:00.Come join us, many hands make light work. If interested contact Cheryl & Dave Ray

 

  • Flower Care and Arranging: Help keep our floral arrangements looking good throughout the entire year inside and outside.  PIC – Dawn McCaw

·         Nursery: Children from newborn through three years are taken adjacent to the cry room during 10:30 Sunday Mass so that the parents can better participate in the Liturgy. PIC-(18 or older) is needed for this ministry to become active. If interested contact Sr. Valerie

 

  • Baptistery Committee: This group will study the sacrament of Baptism as it relates to the church and what possibility exists for a Baptismal Font in our church. PIC – Sr. Valerie

Catholic Community and retreats  offered:

 

  • Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament Mary’s Chapel was dedicated on Dec. 8, 2003 to promote perpetual Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament; spending one hour a week with Jesus, who is truly present in the Blessed Sacrament. PIC Bea Kovacs

 

  • Afterglow of the Eucharist Ministry: The healing power of the Eucharist forms the basis for this ministry of proclamation and restoration. We invite people to come forward for personal prayer and blessing at the end of weekend Masses. PIC Judy Cole

 

  • Charismatic Prayer Group: This group meets in the church on  Monday nights from  7-9 pm.  It’s a joyful time to praise & worship the Lord,  give Him thanks for our many blessings and lift up our personal needs.  The  charismatic gifts of the Holy Spirit are shared and people are lifted up.If interested contact PIC-Judy Cole

 

  • Book of Life: Commemorates the deceased of our parish; their names are read at Mass on the anniversary date of their death. (Names can be added by using the memorial brochure.)

 

  • Book of Petitions: A place to write in a special prayer request to be lifted up in prayer during the Prayer of the Faithful (on stand near the west entrance of church.)

 

  • Book of the Innocents: A place for parents who have miscarried to record the name and life span of their child; to help them mourn their loss (on stand near the east entrance of church.)

Retreats held in our Parish

 

  • Christ Renews His Parish: A weekend experience of God’s love through prayer and reflection with other parishioners.  Men’s  Oct. 18 & 19, 2008.  Women’s March & & 9, 2009. For more details call PIC– Dave and Cheryl Ray

 

  • Life in the Spirit This retreat is open to  men and women, married or single  (18 yrs and older).  It’s an encounter with  the Holy Spirit where the gifts that were given to us at our Baptism are discovered in a way like never before.  Next retreat is March 21-22, 2009. Retreats & Conferences outside our parish:

 

  • Cenacle Retreat— Is presented by the Ministry of Catholic Charismatic Renewal in the Toledo Diocese. This retreat teaches Catholics about becoming empowered  with the gifts of the Holy Spirit and how to operate in these gifts to bless us and lift up others.  It is an upper room experience much like the apostles when the Holy Spirit came upon them.  It can be a life changing experience like a New Pentecost!  These retreats are a Friday-Sunday retreat and are held at Good Shepherd Parish in Toledo, Oh.  They are open to men and women and there is a retreat scheduled for October 3-5, 2008.  For more details call the MCCR Director, Steve Toth at 419-691-6686  Mon-Fri  from 10 am to  3:00 pm.  

 

  • Annual –Holy Toledo Catholic Charismatic Conference-  This Holy Spirit Conference is also put on by the Ministry of Catholic Charismatic Renewal.  It is a weekend (Fri-Sat-Sun) Conference which includes: Praise & Worship, solid Catholic Teaching, and witnessing of God at work in our lives.  Eucharistic Adoration is offered, Liturgy and a Healing Service on Saturday evening.  The annual conference is  October 24, 25, & 26, 2008  and held at the Clarion Hotel on Secor Rd., Toledo, Oh.  This years Speaker is Gary Mader who has been serving  the Catholic Charismatic Renewal for the past 30 years.  He currently serves the Venice, Florida Diocese as Central Area Commissioner, assisting prayer groups and developing days of renewal for prayer groups and their leaders. II. Education/Christian Formation Commission

 

 

  • St. Richard School is happily called to be Christ’s eyes in seeing the needs of creation; His ears in listening with mind, heart, and spirit to others; His arms in supporting each other; His hands in reaching out to help; His feet in taking action. In this setting as educators, learners and servers we are providing opportunities for academic excellence.

 

  • Tutor/ Teacher Aid:  Work with students to improve reading and/or math skills under the direction of the classroom teacher. Assist teacher in the classroom/home with designated tasks. If interested call Sr. Bernarda  Breidenbach

 

  • Lunch & Playground Aide: Supervise the children in the lunchroom while helping with designated tasks plus  supervise children during outside or inside recess.  PIC – Jennifer Hummel

 

  • Parent Club: All St. Richard School parents are automatically members. Meetings are the second Wednesday of the month.  PIC – Diane Niese

 

  • (SEEC)School Enrichment & Enrollment Committee: formally known as Marketing & Enrollment/Enrichment Committee works to promote our school within the parish and local community, and research and implement ideas to increase enrollment and enrich our students here at St. Richard School.   PIC – Lisa Lenz

 

  • School Advisory Council: Meets monthly (3rd Monday) to advise the Pastor and Principal regarding our Parish School.  PIC – Matt McQuade

 

  • Religious Education– Preschool through 8th grade.  Classes are held on Sundays 9:10-10:20 am.  We also offer a two week, 30 hour summer session in July.  Dates to be announced.  Catechesis of  the Good Shepherd is the program we use. This Montessori based program used around the world is designed to facilitate the child’s  coming closer to God in  a more respectful and independent way.  PIC  Anne Geise

 

  • Catechist: Teacher, Assistant & Substitute Gr. K-8:

Preschool-3rd Grade Use the  Good Shepherd Program.

  • Catechist for Children’s Liturgy of the Word:These people help the young children of our assembly better understand God’s word by leading a separate Liturgy of the word for them, using  translations of the readings that are geared to their level.  If interested we can always use more help.   For more details call PIC: Stacy Bruno

 

  • Vacation Bible School, Ecumenical:  In cooperation with Swanton area churches, bible school is one week in June, and open to all children in the community.  PIC -- Sally Callicotte

 

  • RCIC for Children: Ages 7-17, sometimes called “Catch Up” classes, or for those children making the choice to become Catholic now.  Meetings are scheduled and adapted to meet the needs of the participants.  PIC – Anne Geise

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

           

  • RCIA Team: Collaboratively share the roles of discernment, teaching, hospitality, and faith development throughout the RCIA process, and go with candidates for mass dismissal during the year following Rite of Acceptance. PIC – Ann Hallett

 

  • RCIA Sponsor: Walk your talk, be a companion to someone who wants to become a Catholic. Attend regular meetings and retreat days with the person you are sponsoring.  Offer to be available for questions. Be on the inside at Easter Vigil. PIC – Ann Hallett

 

  • RCIA Catechist: Share the truths of your Catholic faith with interested others.  Pick an area or topic you are especially committed to and teach an RCIA class on the subject. PIC – Ann Hallett

 

  • Mystagogy: A continuation from RCIA and RCIC with learning more about your Catholic faith. PIC – Ann Hallett

Sacramental Preparation/Christian Formation

 

  • Baptism: Be part of the team to help new parents (or parents to-be) begin the awesome task of raising their child in relationship with God and the Catholic Church. PICS — Anne Geise & Mary Warner PIC’s

 

  • First Reconciliation and Eucharist: Children are prepared to receive these sacraments for the first time during their second-grade year. This preparation includes parents as co-catechists, with the parish providing the materials. As well as, retreat days some for both parents and child. We encourage family celebrations of First Eucharist at the regularly scheduled weekend Masses during the Easter season.  We need many volunteers in this process.   • Confirmation: The Rite of Confirmation, presented by the Life Teen Program is being offered to all 8th graders preparing them for the sacrament of Confirmation.  Sun.  November 2,2008 there is a FIRE Retreat scheduled at Notre Dame Academy in Toledo from 1-7pm.Saturday, April 18, 2009  there is a Confirmation Retreat scheduled here at St. Richard from 9am-6pm. Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Noon the Ceremony will take place at Rosary Cathedral  in Toledo.For more information call  PIC-Denise Swain

 

  • Engaged Couples: Be part of a team to help prepare engaged couples for the Sacrament of Marriage.  Help facilitate FOCCUS (Facilitating Open Couple Communication, Understanding, and Study).  Help with Engaged Couples Day, October 11, 2008 as presenter or support person. ·         Marriage Enrichment: Attend an evening with Dr. Kevin Anderson and Claudia his wife to sharpen your skills and enrich your marriage.    PIC’s  – Tony & Ginny Lucarelli

 

  • Faith Sharing Prayer/Study Groups: Meet seasonally and through-out the year using a variety of topics and materials and at various times and places.  PIC Mary Warner

 

  • Rosary Prayer Group: Meets on Tuesdays at 8:30 am Mass and afterward in Guadalupe Hall. Pray the rosary and also the Chaplet/Novena of the Divine Mercy, and Bible study.  PIC Mary Marvin

III. Community Building Commission

 

  • Crusaders Athletic Development Association: CADA’s principle role is to make sports programs available, enhance the physical education program, affecting all students in grades K-12 who attend St. Richard Catholic Church, by providing the organization and funding for these programs. This includes the teams and players fees for C.Y.O., sports equipment, plus providing and maintaining the facility. CADA raises money through the Reverse Raffle which will be Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, as well as the Fish Fries beginning Friday, Feb. 13, Feb 27, Mar 13, & March 27, 2009  Good Friday, April 10, 2009. To become involved attend a meeting held at 7 p.m. the second Monday of each month (Sept.–May). PIC - Peggy Myers

 

 

  • Knights of Columbus Sacred Heart Council: Meet at 8 p.m. on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month. This group was formed by Father Michael McGivney to aid Catholic men in remaining true to the church and to provide assistance to widows and orphans of deceased members. There are over 1 million Knights worldwide and over 60,000 in the state of Ohio. Sacred Heart Council sponsored a Marian Hour of Prayer at St. Richard in the past and sponsors novenas at various times. The flagpole outside of St. Richard School was donated by a member and erected by the members. Knights fill many of the leadership positions at St. Richard and work at all levels in the parish. Provide scholarships to our youth. Membership is open to all Catholic men over the age of 18.  Grand Knight:  Terry Miller

 

  • Social Group: This group will sponsor trips to various events for all ages of our parish. These events may be to baseball, football or basketball games. An evening out to a dinner theater or various concerts, plays, trips to museum for cultural events, religious retreats. We will sponsor Parish Social Events such as the Feast Day. The main purpose is to bring together God’s family and share in life and fellowship. PIC – Mary Warner

 

  • Rosary Altar Society: This group is responsible for supplying altar needs: bread, wine, linens, vestments.  Monthly meetings are held the second Thursday of the month beginning at 7:00 pm in the Parish Life Center. They host the following special events;  a catered Christmas Dinner with live entertainment which will be Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008 at 6:00 pm. in the Parish Life Center, a Rummage Sale which will be Thursday April 16, 2009 and Friday April 17, 2009 in Clancy Hall, and a Mother/Child Banquet on Thursday, May 14, 2009.   • Boy Scouts: Founded in 1964 by St. Richard Parish with the Boy Scouts of America, BSA Troop 254 camps monthly, including winter months, actively participates in District and Council activities and promotes scouting in a manner consistent with its religious sponsorship. Open to members of all faiths. Troop meetings are held on Mondays during the school year, at St. Richard School, in the Parish Life Center.  There are registered scouts ranging in age from 11-15 and organized into 3 patrols.    PIC - Gary Harden

 

  • Cub Scouts: Cub Scouts of America Pack 254 meets once a month as a Pack, which is the third Thursday of the month. The Cub Scouts then meet several times a month with their individual den/patrol specific day is chosen by the den/patrol leader. Boys who are in the first through sixth grade are welcome to join. Open to members of all faiths. There are registered scouts ranging in age from 6-11 years old and are currently organized into 3 dens and 2 patrols. PIC  Brian Aumiller

 

·         Alcoholics Anonymous:  Outreach to those who are in need of a support group in regard to alcohol.  A group meets here at St. Richard Parish in St. Francis Hall at 8:00 pm on Thursdays. PIC-Nate Bacon

 

·         Neighborhood Clusters:  Reaching out and ministering to your neighbors within your cluster who are St. Richard parishioners.  PIC Ginny Lucarelli

 

·         Evangelization: Outreach with the good news of Jesus Christ to everyone we meet. PIC Judy Cole

IV. Administration & Stewardship

 

  • Cemetery Board: Members meet quarterly to establish quidelines for cemetery operation.  PIC – Polly Berkebile

 

  • Grounds Committee: Join this committee to ensure the 25 acres of our parish grounds is kept beautiful by planting, mulching, watering, weeding, mowing, etc. They meet quarterly. On Saturday, May 2, 2009 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. an Annual Grounds Clean Up Day will be held. PIC –Paul Dzyak

 

  • Memorial Gardens Committee: Open to anyone interested in helping with the Memorial Garden on West side of the Church around Msgr. Clancy’s grave. The committee meets 4 times a year.  If you like working outside and have some time to help call PIC– Sharon Wesley

 

  • Maintenance Committee: Conducts semi-annual inspection of buildings. Help with minor repairs. Carpentry, electrical, plumbing and any other trades persons are encouraged to volunteer. Note on form any trade that you can help with.  PIC – Bob Long

 

  • Spring Fling Festival Committee: This group plans all phases of our annual Country Festival and recruits Person In Charge for all the booths/activities. They usually meet about four times a year.  This years festival is on May 16 & 17, 2009. PIC– Leo Hall & Mark Chovanec

 

  • Office/Computer Skills: Volunteer once a week, a month, or when your schedule allows to help with bulk mailings, data entry, bulletin stuffing, answering phones, computer input and other office work.Claudia Sturm

  • Technology Committee: Meets on the third Monday of each month between September and June. This committee develops an ongoing technology plan for school and parish. They also help develop the curriculum for the Internet use in the classroom. They also maintain technology inventory (software and hardware).  PIC – Jeff Callicotte

 

  • School Endowment Board: This is a board of trustees that meet quarterly. They fulfill the duties as outlined in the endowment charter. Twelve members are appointed by the pastor.  PIC – Ed Snyder

 

  • Tithing Committee: As a parish who believes “Stewardship is a Way of Life” we tithe 10% of our offertory 5% internally and 5% externally. This committee discusses and discerns where the tithe will be given. PIC – Theresa  Pacholek

 

  • Finance Committee: They develop the parish and school budget. As well as overseeing all areas of finance. They promote tithing and responsible stewardship of the parish and school financial resources. This group meets monthly. Membership is open to any active parishioner. Two and three year terms.  PIC – John Stewart

 

  • Planned Giving Committee: This group develops ways for anyone to remember St. Richard through wills, trusts, insurance, etc.  They meet quarterly. PIC - Bill Belinger

 

·         Pastoral Council: The primary advisory group of the parish that discusses, discerns, and envisions direction for the parish in response to the needs of the people.  They meet five times a year and all are welcome to attend the Town Hall Meeting May 12, 2009 at 7:00 pm in the church. ·         Publicity Committee: The mission of this committee is to assist with internal and external communication of Parish events and news. This committee’s purpose is to assist in publicity ideas for other ministries/committees that are planning an event, or if the ministry is having difficulty reaching a certain audience. This committee is made up of several very creative parishioners, some of whom happen to be professionals in marketing and public relations, so you may find our experience to be helpful.   • Web Site Committee: This committee is responsible for maintaining and updating the web site for St. Richard Church.  PIC – Joe Panning

 

  • Stewardship Committee: Ensures the ongoing education, nurturing and development of stewardship of time, talent and treasure in the parish.  Co-chairs:  Larry Durholt & Dennis Seffernick

 

  • All Are Welcome Committee: Join this committee and welcome each new parishioner, to the St. Richard family modeling Stewardship As A Way of Life.  Provide new parishioners with helpful reference information and encourage them to use their gifts and become involved in the various ministries at St. Richard.  PIC Judy Cole

V. Social Justice/ Outreach/Ministry to the Sick & Bereaved Commission

 

  • Social Justice Committee: Meets quarterly to pray and study Catholic social justice teachings and plan activities and action responses to social justice issues.  We are involved in direct service to the needy and also promote social change.  PIC – Theresa Pacholek & Ginny Lucarelli

 

  • Fast for World Harvest: Annual event sponsored by OxFam to raise people’s awareness regarding hunger in the world. Money is donated to OxFam for their hunger development projects. Fasting on Thursday, November 20, 2009 is encouraged. PIC-–  TBA

  • St. Vincent de Paul Society: A charitable society organized by Frederic Ozanam and modeled after the patron Saint Vincent de Paul dedicated to serving the needs of people in our community who need temporary help with food (food pantry), clothing. (We have a collection station on the North end of the back parking lot and supply vouchers to the St. Vincent de Paul store in Toledo to people in need, housing, utilities, etc.) Our chapter meets on the third Sunday of the month at 9:10 a.m. in Guadalupe Hall.  PIC –Paula Ellinger

  • Prison Ministry: Outreach to prisoners at Stryker Corrections Institution & Mansfield Ohio state prison during a retreat through personal witness. This group meets 4-5 times before the retreat. PIC-Steve McCaw

Ministry to Sick and Bereaved

 

  • Prayer Chain for the Sick:  A method of having people prayed for by fellow parishioners. Simply call the parish office with a prayer request and your petition will be passed on to people who  pray.  Join us in this prayer ministry by calling PIC Catherine Dotson

 

  • A Helping Hand (A.H.H.):  group of parishioners who respond to fellow parish members who are in need of assistance (e.g. food to the home after or during an illness). PIC – Sandy Truckor

 

  • Hands of Grace: A coalition of Fulton County faith congregations and community agencies united for the purpose of enhancing the quality of life of the elderly, homebound, and persons living with disabilities through volunteer assistance and adult day care.  PIC – Ellen Poca

 

  • Health Ministry: This service is provided by doctors, nurses both RN and LPN that are members of the Parish. These services may include monthly blood pressure checks; educational programs and health related presentations. This ministry meets BI-monthly or six times a year. They will follow up on parishioners after released from the hospital to let them know we are here to address their needs.  We hope to offer programs on cholesterol screening, diabetes, COPD and dementia.   • Hospital Visitors: People who bring our sense of care and good cheer to those who are in area hospitals. PIC – Sharon Wesley

 

  • Nursing Home Mass Assistant: Help set up for Mass and bring people from their rooms for the monthly Masses at Swanton Health Care (first Wednesday of the month at 10:00 a.m.) and Harborside (2nd Wednesday of the month at 10:00 a.m.). PIC Kathy Kajtaniak

 

  • Eucharistic Minister to Nursing Homes: Weekly take communion to the two nursing homes in Swanton. Wednesday-Harborside and Friday- Swanton Health Care at 10:00am.  We also pray a rosary with the residents at this time.  PIC   Judy Cole

 

  • Eucharistic Minister to Homebound: Take Communion weekly to our homebound parishioners. PIC – Barb VanNewhouse

 

  • Bereavement Support Group: This group meets on the 3rd Monday of the month.  It is to help anyone who may be experiencing grief. Through the support of this group you may find it easier to cope.  PIC – Jackie Moore & Marge Goller

 

  • Funeral Dinner Teams: We are here to serve fellow parishioners in the time of death of a loved one by offering to serve dinner following the Funeral Mass.  We hope and pray in some way we can be of comfort to you in your time of bereavement.  PIC – Sandy Truckor

 

  • Prayer Shawl Ministry: This ministry is provided by members of our community who make the prayer shawls and are then blessed and prayed over by our prayer group.  They are then presented to those who are sick, may have a lost a loved one.  PIC – Kathy Krupitzer

 

  • Adopt An Elderly/Homebound:  The main purpose is to get parishioners young and old to adopt a person who is homebound or in the nursing home.  This ministry allows one to visit them, send them letters, get to know them better, remember their birthday with a card, and make them feel special and appreciated.  PIC – Mary Warner

Other Outreach

 

  • Catholic/Lutheran Covenant: On May 19, 2002 Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church and St. Richard Roman Catholic Church signed a covenant to cooperate in prayer, religious education, and social outreach.  An Ecumenical Relations Committee will meet quarterly to carry out the covenant in a practical way.   PIC – Tom Krupitzer & Tedd Spurgeon

 

  • Rosary Makers: Willing hands and generous monetary assistance allows this ministry to provide the resources to produce 1,000 rosaries a month to assist in meeting the demand for 10 million a year. These rosaries are mailed to a group NY as well as a group in California and Missions worldwide, Military personnel, Our Lady of Toledo Shrine in Oregon, Ohio. In addition rosaries are offered to St. Richard School children and to any other persons interested in obliging the requests of the Blessed Virgin Mary.   PIC – Mary Marvin

VI. Youth/Young Adults Commission

 

  • LIFE TEEN: Our high school youth ministry based on an international Catholic youth ministry model designed to lead teens closer to Christ.  Life Teen Programs are held on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month, starting at 6:00pm with a vibrant Eucharistic celebration of the Mass followed with the Life Night (LTN). In addition to the Sunday night programs, a variety of events and activities are held throughout the year including a ski trip, white water rafting, an Appalachia trip, a day at Cedar Point, Spaghetti Dinner, Mother’s Day plant sale, and sponsored games at the parish festival.  PIC’s -Youth Minister -Joe Panning & Religious Education Anne Geise

 

  • LIFE TEEN Adult Core Team:  Includes trained youth ministers and adults (training provided) who plan the Life Nights and lead the teens to be affirmed, educated and challenged to live the Gospel. The adults also assist the youth minister where needed in various youth events and activities throughout the year. This team meets two Wednesdays a month. PIC’s Glen Dominique & Bill Miller

 

  • LIFE TEEN Youth Core Team: Selected group of high school teens who provide leadership and commit to involvement with all Life Teen programs and activities.  Designed to develop the whole person- spiritually,  physically, emotionally and intellectually. PIC Anne Geise

 

  • Life Teen Support Group:  Adults within the parish who provide food, beverages and/or materials needed for Life Teen Nights and at various youth activities. PIC – Ann Geise

 

  • Life Teen Music Group: A combined Instrumental/Vocal ensemble that performs for the Life Teen Masses with a more contemporary style. Practice is on Tuesday evenings from 7-9:00pm.   PIC – Ed Myers

 

  • Appalachian Experience (High School):  High school students spend their Spring Break helping the poor.in need through the experience of Christian community.  .  PIC – TBA

 

  • Appalachian Experience (Post-High School):  The young adults ages 18-25 spend a week helping the poor and devastated.  Date TBA.  PIC –TBA
